Phew, it's published!

I muttered something along those lines one month and three days ago, when CATS IN HATS was officially out. Over a year of anticipation, preparation, yarn-ation (ok, not a word, but my yarn stash DOUBLED while making this book, and I'm ok with that!), and explanation (my family and friends were like ... you're writing what?) all culminated with what was, honestly, just a normal day for me. In fact, once I uttered my sigh of relief I thought... what will I do next?

6 years ago when I started ScooterKnits, I was looking for a creative outlet. In design school, I was told by the dean of my program that my drive seemed to be more about making art than making fashion. It was true, I'm not that motivated by the fashion world. What interests me is expressing thoughts, ideas, lifestyles through the physicality of clothing. Etsy has been a fantastic platform for so many wandering craft souls, looking to make their mark and find their niche. I'm just as surprised as others that mine happened to be knitting and designing cat hats, which has been a blessing. I've always approached ScooterKnits with a sense of humour, playfully delving into that robed, slippered image of a "cat lady" that has plagued cat lovers the world over. I enjoy writing jaunty quips about my designs when I list them on Etsy, and I've loved creating quirky, kitschy headwear for my feline friends. And can I just say that it has been a test of character for me to show up at a craft show with a table full of cat hats and face the general public! People just aren't sure if you are aware of the hilarousness of what your doing (obviously cats have no real "need" for hats). Which doesn't actually bother me. I think the world can use more light hearted laughter.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way, and those of you who I've recently connected with. The Cat Lover community has been oh so good to me. And for those of you who knit and/or crochet, I hope you enjoy CATS IN HATS as much as I've enjoyed these last 6 years.
